A Microscopic And Stuck Scientist

Alexis had always wondered what the microscopic world would really look like. Sure, she had viewed it on a slide through a microscope, but what would it be like to experience? Everyone at the lab had warned her that it was a dangerous proposition. After all, it was barely comprehensible to consider what the surface of such small organisms would feel like. But she yearned for it so desperately.

One night in the lab Alexis set up an experiment. Throwing the size cannon into full reverse, she prepared to see what would happen if she shrunk down into one of these petri dish sized worlds. No one was there to stop her obsession this time.

Shrunken down many times more than the machine was designed for, she felt herself flittering in and out of reality. It felt like she could just blink out of existence. Moments in time seemed to black out and flash back in. Finally, the transformation stabilized and she took in the world around her. It was just as fantastic as she had dreamed! The textures, the atmosphere, and the overwhelming sense of being so small.

At a size invisible to the naked eye, she now found herself stuck. She would have taken the time to research what it was beneath her body, but a more pressing matter arose. A gigantic amoeba rose up before her and began to ooze toward the scientists tiny body. In her shock she didn't even notice the human skull floating in it's mass.

For Alexis there was no hope. She hadn't heeded her colleagues warning. Now, there was no escape for her in the world she would never be found in.
